Recognized by sight: Xylaria is the only genus that I know of with this sort of upright anamorph.

Recognized by sight: Dr. Yu-Ming Ju introduced me to this fungus, and the it’s the only one I know that has this sort of knobby anamorph. Yours is a bit more restricted to the ends though.
