Observation 160065: “Gasteromycetes” Fr.
When: 2014-02-19
0 Sequences

Small oval shaped fungi? measuring 10mm across longest edge. Several tentacle like projections are widely spaced around the perimeter of the main body. The fungi was attached to damp deadwood that had other fungi growing alongside this specimen.
I re-photographed the fungi at home at about a 5:1 ratio and the specimen was commencing to dry out. I also scoped the “tentacles” showing their structure leaving the outer perimeter.(images show outer edge of fungi where the tentacles leave the main body.) As the specimen is still attached to the substrate,(bark), I needed to provide additional overhead light to show the images. There is some lighting glare and it was difficult to get sharp images. The structure of these extensions from the main body appear to be threadlike and fibrous. The scoped images are at 10x power, and I have not cut the specimen yet to scope at higher magnification.
