I don’t see myself as a guardian either, where exactly did you get that impression? I’m certainly not and I wasn’t the one that voted “As if” on the other suggestion. The veil just doesn’t match C. atramentaria nor does it look like it macroscopically. Unfortunately I do not have enough experience to tell you what it is & without the veil I am not sure I will figure it out. Maybe Europe-coprinologist would know better.

At the time …

I had no microscope, only now. So I had to work on the dried specimen, which means that in the meantime all the sparse and delicate veil disapeared. The non-existence of the veil at the center of pileus is easily understood, since the day before heavy rain came out and recall that the specimen lived on a living tree, some 1.5 m from soil. If you want to know my first choice for the classification was C. nivea, but that lives on dung, not on trees. Now, after microscopy, I´m sure about the classification, and please don´t call it Psathyrellaceae. Here we have a dictate saying more or less: A blind man is not one that cannot see but one that don´t want to see. Moreover, I don´t see you as the guardian of “Coprinoide” mushroom, because you came to late for that.

Thanks for the additional info.

The more I think about it, no way this is C. atramentaria.

“Pileus grey or brown; stipe without annulus; veil sparse, only at centre and brown; when veil whitish or silvery grey then spores warty; subsect. Atramentarii (Fr.) Konr. & Maubl. "

I might be able to find out what this is if I know what the veil cells look like microscopically.

Please label your micrographs.

What does the veil look like? Spore size?
