Recognized by sight: For West Virginia, I think the most likely diagnosis for a specimen with warts on the bulb in many rows descending nearly to the very bottom of the bulb would be A. atkinsoniana. The volva is in transition from gray to a sort of reddish brown (especially on bulb). This also is a character of atkinsoniana. Further, atkinsoniana is one of the Lepidellas with a relatively persistent partial veil. There is a page on atkinsoniana that can be reached from http://eticomm.net/~ret/amanita/sectlepi.html , which is an alphabetic listing of species pages for sect. Lepidella.
