Notes: I found these mushrooms growing on our farm under one of the old cypress trees.

Habitat: Found growing under an old cypress pine in 3-4" of composted leaf mulch.

Gills: Dark brown, do not touch the stem.

Stem:Creamy off white, tapers from the top to the bottom. When cut at the bottom bleeds red.

Cap: Light brown, mottled and fibrous looking, white flesh underneath the brown skin, 3.5-4" in diameter.

Spore print color: A brownish color, very faint even though I left it overnight.

Bruising: bleeds red then eventually turns dark brown-black.

Smell: Smells like the large flat mushrooms you buy in the store. Does not smell phenolic or like almonds.

Location: Simpson, VIC, Australia
