Used references: Mushrooms Demystified; found in a mixed conifer forest ~3 miles inland in
Mendocino. The cap is viscid but the stipe is not. It smells quite
strongly of green corn. The flesh is pale yellow and unchanging. Lots of
reddish brown veil fragments on the stipe. The stipe is 4-5 cm thick
and somewhat bulbous at the base. Cap is 11 cm in diameter, dark
cinnamon in the center fading to light vinaceous cinnamon at the
margin.
