Notes: Four small mushrooms, probably of the same species, growing within a 2 m circle, one on a rotting root, three in leaf litter. Off-white to light yellow with darker, brownish scales. 15-22 mm cap diameters; the only accessible stem had 1-2 mm diameter.

Observed at the base of a koa (Acacia koa) tree. Individual 1 was growing from the root. This individual had a cap diameter of 16 mm. Individuals 2 and 3 had cap diameters of 15 and 22 mm respectively. The fourth individual had a cap diameter of 16 mm.

Mushrooms of Hawaii, Hemmes and Desjadin, contains images of Polyporus arcularius that seem visually to sustain this identification.
