Gray lichen on red sandstone at about 5000’ elevation in manzanita/live oak/juniper/Az cypress habitat. No rain since 3/2/14.

Recognized by sight: going by gestalt, this looks more Aspicilia-like to me than Acarospora, would need chemistry and microscopy (spore number and size, conidia length) to get to species; also Acarospora and Aspicilia are totally different microscopically, former with 100’s of minute spores, latter with 8 or fewer large spores
