This magnificent specimen is the largest of its kind I have recorded. It may be Austroboletus A.rarus, (see obs: 132109). This previous record was very small in comparison to this fungi tody. Cap 7cm and 25mm thick. Stipe, 12cm. This is a medium sized fungi in my obs. Found single growth in forest soil and decaying litter. Specimen mature.
