Observation 162910: Tricholoma saponaceum (Fr.) P. Kumm.
When: 2014-04-04
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Growing on the ground in mixed woods, primarily Live oak and Madrone.
Caps up to 12.0 cm across.
Spore print white and spores not amyloid.
Spores ~ 4.9-5.6 X 3.5-4.7 microns, mostly broadly ellipsoid and smooth.
There was an odor, not unpleasant, but difficult to describe(for me).
Edit; The orangish color of the base of the stem and other features do suggest T. saponaceum. Thanks Walt.
