Are you referring to López de Silanes et al 2008 in Clementeana 11: 13-15?
I see another, too: Aragon et al 2005 in Nova Hedwigia 80(1-2): 199-226.
Would you mind sending me a copy of whichever you have? I would be very interesting in reading the comments and learning about these species we don’t have in North America. Thanks!
re: L. corticola — I thought of that one, too, but reconsidered when I couldn’t find any apothecia in your photo. It looked instead like there may be some isidia. I must be misreading the photos.
RE: There’s one in Florida that does this.
I think that L. corticola would be a good candidate. However, this specied is considered as not been found in Portugal to date. But, there are other candidates, like _L. brebissonii, which is the most frequent and abundant species of this genus in mainland Portugal, according to the paper referenced below.
RE: Are there any Leptogium left in Portugal which you haven’t seen yet??
Yes there are many, but I only knew this recently. In fact, it came to my knowledge a paper devoted to Leptogium spp. in Portugal. According to it there are 25 species in Portugal; one only existing here in Europe; 3 or 4 having here fertile specimens contrary to what happens in the rest of Europe; 3 species exist in Portugal and are not reported from the rest of the Iberian Peninsula; 5 species existing in the Iberian Peninsula don´t have records from Portugal; 3 or 4 species are very rare here and only known from one or two place. As you can see, there is still a lot to discover … Meantime a good new for me is that, in particular, the identifications of L. cochleatum are probably correct, since there is no evidence of the existence here of the similar L. azureum. Summarizing, I need more time to digest all this information.
