Observation 163255: Sticta fuliginosa (Hoffm.) Ach.

When: 2014-03-15

Collection location: Serra de Montejunto, Portugal [Click for map]

Who: zaca

No specimen available

This year has been terrific for the observation of Sticta spp.. I found great populations of three of the four species existing here. This observation refers to the most bizarre of the specimens observed: in addition to the coralloide clusters of isisdia there are a great amount of folioles, mainly at the margin but not restricted to it.

These isidia were apparently so eager to start their own thalli, that they didn’t even wait until they fell off! :)
