This was in Zone 03 on a Betula papyrifera log. The white crystalline stuff adjacent to the log is snow! It should normally be gone on this date but for some reason there’s still a fair bit of it in there.
The host is wrong for Dacrymyces palmatus, so I have to suspect Tremella — is the stuff to the left of the leftmost fruit body a dried out old Stereum? These probably overwintered after freezing solid sometime around when the big “2014” lit up above Times Square.
