Growing under California Live Oak; within a few feet also found Amanita phalloides. Be very careful picking Amanitas for the table. Be 1000% sure of your ID. A dried out or young Amanita phalloides, which is deadly toxic, could be mistaken for an Amanita velosa, which is a choice edible.
