Recognized by sight: small orange-brown capped boletes with a whitish pore surface becoming dotted with orange-yellow and then becoming dingy brownish-yellow. Punctate orange-brown stipe surface contrasting strongly with pores. Stipe stuffed or developing a cavity in age. Under live oak in a moss bed over sandy soil.
