associated with oil immersion/1000×. But your suggestions are helpful, Rocky. I have a few options available for getting help learning these things.

Oil immersion

Is pretty straightforward as long as you have the appropriate thickness of glass and viscosity of oil. Your objectives are parfocal, so you should be able to focus on the section with your 40X, rotate the turret halfway to the 100, place the smallest possible drop of oil on the cover glass and then finish rotating the 100X objective into place. At this point you should be pretty close to focused, if anything you will need to fine focus a bit. Your 40&100 objectives are equipped with springs, so you need not over worry about focusing in too much. One critical thing to remember is to always rotate from the oil objective to the shortest objective on your turret in order to avoid sweeping the 40X through the oil( bad news). To clean the oil from the objective when you are done, simply gently dab with lens paper until it comes away dry.

Are you familiar with the procedure for centering and focusing your condenser?

the Amscope B-100 MS. I haven’t installed the micrometer yet. Someone will do this for me a couple weeks from now. Also, I haven’t yet attempted to use the oil immersion 1000x feature yet. Waiting for some coaching on this.

Yeah Martin, this one has done some genus-jumping these past few years. Maybe Neopolyporus next week?
