Notes: I found this growing on a dead tree in a fairly wet area on my property in Ithaca, NY. It was growing along side one other similarly sized specimen.
I have a large piece of property in Ithaca and have noticed several different types of mushrooms during my walks through the woods. I am a complete novice when it comes to identifying mushrooms and thought I would start by asking if someone could point me in the right direction on the identification of this mushroom. My guess is: Polyporus squamosus ?
I would appreciate any help.
