Observation 166491: Russula subgenus Nigricantes

When: 2014-06-03

Collection location: MP 14.5 E. Larch Mountain Rd., Multnomah Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]

Who: Daniel B. Wheeler (Tuberale)

No specimen available

Notes:
Fairly common, but with few details to go by. Fungus is uniformly black, with black gills, and black stipe. Russula nigricans was observed here last November. I think these wintered over under the snow pack.
