Observation 168463: Boletus nobilis Peck
When: 2014-06-26

Notes: Growing under beech. The largest specimen does have some yellow at apex of stipe. Ammonia reactions are negative on pileus and stipe, but do produce a red reaction on pore surface and a lesser red reaction on tube surface. Some very light, white reticulation at apex of stipe.

I found this same mushroom last year and was thinking it was B gertrudiae, but was also on fence with B nobilis. Looking for opinions, please.

Note the white reticulation at apex.
Immediately after slicing.
Red ammonia reaction on pore surface on right side of mushroom.
Lesser red ammonia reaction on right side do tubes.
Yellowing at apex on older specimen.
