Observation 168732: Xylaria Hill ex Schrank

Found fruiting OUT OF a dead piece of wood, most likely Cajanus cajan (Pigeon Pea) in the FGCU Food Forest. Many of our pigeon peas have died as of late (2-3 yrs old), and I noticed that many dead or dying pigeon peas are hollowed out and inhabited by ants or other insects…. so this leads me to believe that a Cordyceps species is amongst them. I did not cut the piece of wood open, but I can tomorrow if need be.
