I wouldn’t say that.

amago is the local wild trout here, also referred to as “cherry salmon” . they don’t go for anything but perfectly presented tiny flies with 12 footer leaders in crystal clear water. Just another way to say I was skunked!

Thought it might.

Growth on root indicates it could be either saprophytic or mycorrhizal, if within 2 years of root death.

Trout fishing? A lot of my best discoveries were found while fishing. How was the fishing?

recall it is growing on a decaying root buried in leaf litter, does not show too well. Will try a little better on observation next time, I was trout fishing , just happened to have camera with me. the geology here is primarily fractured rock with little soil. Lots of leaf litter, and downed tree branches tangled up in rock and rock fines (decomposed rock). psathyrella is everywhere right now, unusual in early summer. It is said this year in Japan wild mushrooms uncommonly prolific.

include how thick the cap flesh is: 1cm, 1mm. Has the look of Hydnellum, but that could just be me.

Need to post the underside (spore-producing side), Shinto.

Without the pore surface available, could be many things. Was this growing on a buried log or buried wood?
