But there were hemlock in the vicinity of this obs. It has been called R. krombholzii as well as R. atropurpurea. It often is one of the first Russulas to fruit.
Do you find this under Hemlock? I saw an old observation where you said you find it under oak. Anyhow next time you are just two hours away I would like a heads up, lol!
