This will add to the illustrations, etc., etc. It’s nice to know that you’ve been able to collect this species twice in the same park.

Very best,

Rod

A very good match to sp-N67 from the same site.

It looks like there are three positions in the nrITs the show variation between (it seems) two nucleotides each. The other observation is MO 74501.

Very best,

Rod

We have DNA and are working on it now.

indicate that here were olivaceous tones on the cap. But I don’t see this in the photos for 74501. So maybe the photos of 74501 are paler than 169768 because of lost color.

Our process with newly arrived reads…

includes comparing them to all previously received sequences from the same section of the Genus and the same gene. To be sure that we have the section correct, we BLAST a sequence against GenBank. This is sometimes necessary when there is a question of whether we have decided upon a section correctly.

Very best,

Rod

We submitted hundreds of samples for sequencing in the second half of 2016.

As of this date, the sample from this observation is about 100 samples beyond the most recently sequenced sample. A sequence from this collection will take a little more time to get to Roosevelt. Your suggestion of similarity with 74501 is a good one. The photos of the latter seem paler than the species illustrated here. What do you think on that score?

Very best,

Rod

Thanks Dave,

We have recieved this material and accessioned it to Rod’s Herbarium. We have scheduled it for DNA sequencing.

I believe I have also collected this type…

during each of the past two or three years. So you may have previously received samples from me.

I’m trying to preserve most of my Vaginatae collections.

Very nice set of photos, David.

I am seeing what seems to be this species from several collectors this month. I haven’t been able to connect it to one of my temporary codes. I would be very interested in seeing dried material.

Very best,

Rod
