Recognized by sight: Smallish Amanita; caps about 1 1/2" across. Pendant annulus. Globose to sub globose bulb with a very short but distict rolled sock collar.

I agree with your observation of the veil.

While the partial veil is in the process of falling, I think it was funnel-shaped at first.

The picture suggests A. multisquamosa or something very similar.
