I am using Singer’s classification for a lot of these groups. A full description of the system can be found in Agaricales in Modern Taxonomy. Sarnari’s monograph also has sections and his books have keys in English, but he doesn’t address North American species. This group is quite distinct in that it has a light spore print, purplish cap color, mild taste, many forking of the gills, and soapy, flexuous gills. I’m not sure if this one is described. Most of the names for this group are synonyms of R. variata Burl.

Thanks Brian

What is your source of information for these sections? I have checked Russulales News. They have a lot of photos of species, but don’t seem to recognize sections…,
