Observation 170957: Cyanoboletus pulverulentus (Opat.) Gelardi, Vizzini & Simonini
When: 2014-07-18
No herbarium specimen

Notes: I tried to avoid touching off the staining reaction.

On a slope near an apple tree. Area with ground cover adjacent to a mowed area. Mature Shagbark Hickory about 25 feet away.

I sliced/fried a few of these. The flavor and texture are good.

I couldn’t find a literature reference for this new genus online. So are we now going to move all bluing boletes into Cyanoboletus? :)
