Observation 170977: Russula Pers.
When: 2014-07-21

Notes: Each summer this type Russula appears on my lawn. The area is near two apple trees, and a mature Shagbark Hickory is about 30 feet away.

Vinaceous, whitish, silvery mottling of the cap is consistent among all collections I have made of this type.

Reminds me of R. mariae, and given the range of cap colors I believe I have observed with this type, I think this species name should be considered.

I have a spore sample and will see if I can get some help executing a 1000x oil immersion.
