Observation 171078: Collybia tuberosa (Bull.) P. Kumm.

When: 2014-07-19

Collection location: Boulder, Colorado, USA [Click for map]

2743m

Who: Nhu Nguyen (xerantheum)

No specimen available

Notes:
This strange mycoparasite was growing out of some old russulas in the mixed coniferous-aspen forests east of Boulder, Colorado. I collected them and put them in a moist chamber hoping that they would turn into something else, but nothing has happened. Some of these structures can be longer, and once dried, they form a skin that appear to resist dessication.
