Observation 171187: “Deuteromycota” R.T. Moore

When: 2014-06-09

Collection location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Jonathan M

No specimen available

this fungus is beleived to be in a completly new genera and is unnamed, my observation might be the first one, currently not officialy named however.

If anyone find this specie (my specimen was found on highly humid rotten wood from an hardwood greened by algae, near a stream in a often flooded foresté) please let me know, as my collection was contaminated when sequencing and didn’t yield any result, it is also not growing in culture.

look a bit at first glance like a ceratiomyxa, but is sturdier, larger and have slimy heads. It was found in an habitat suitable for ceratiomyxa however.
