There seem to be many, many white species in the Vaginatae and…

sometimes white-capped variants of species normally thought of as pigmented.

We recently obtained DNA from an “authentic” (collected by the “author”) specimen of A.albiceps” of Yves Lamoureux. So we have the good luck of having one “stake in the ground” in terms of associating name and temporary codes with white Vaginatae in North America.

We’re working on a number of other collections, but the number of collections (at the present) is too small to be able to cope with the very large apparent variety in the DNA.

If you find white Vaginatae, the dried collections will always have a potential home in Roosevelt.

I came back to this obsservation today and, again, was impressed with this beautiful specimen.

Very best,

Another beautiful species of the Vaginatae.
