Observation 171494: Tylopilus P. Karst.

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Pale fawn cap with rain stains and a very thin viscid layer, not sticky. Pale pores with pinkish cast and bevel at margin. Context white, wormy.

All parts slowly staining dark cocoa brown.

Taste not noted, macrochemical tests not performed.

Suspect T. rubrobrunneus

You say these are common in the pine barrens; does this look like what you are finding there?
