I read the info on the name page. Nothing on that page about American species being different from the European. Ryvarden has this species in three of his books and mentions them in the USA in all 3 books. I’d bet dollars to doughnut holes that he has done some DNA work on them. The only DNA sequence I could find was by Vlasak and he uses this name for USA collections.

If you click on the name, I’ve provided some more information. North American collections are not conspecific with European collections of Pyrofomes demidoffii. The type collection is from Crimea.

Herbert – What evidence do you have that is a “group”? I have not seen any DNA work on this group and may have missed something.
