Used references: NATS Field Guide To Selected Nort5h American Truffles and Truffle-like Fungi. Identification made based on exterior rhizomorphs on exterior of peridium, yellow-to-red peridium. I wish the second photo had been more in focus: I can’t tell if loculate or solid. If loculate, almost certainly Rhizopogon. Unlikely it is solid with rhizomorphs.

1) In focus photos. 2) notation about what the fungus looked like when fresh (spongy, superball, soft like a marshmallow, etc.) 3) Likely mycorrhizal host trees (include anything within 150 feet from where fungus was found). 4) Additional photos.
