I will try that with the Kleenex, and see if it helps. My camera is a Canon A490 (very budget friendly). Sometimes I’ll use a small stick to help stabilize the camera, because I don’t carry a tripod in my backpack (I need the room for mushrooms). I would probably do well by taking a basic photography course. I will not be attending the foray this year. Thank you.
I wonder if a handkerchief or a piece of Kleenex over the flash would mute the glare a little bit? I imagine that your flash comes on automatically in low light like mine does. For close up or macro shots. That automated flash is a real disturbing force for a shot that is going to be evaluated based on taxonomic details that are hidden in glare. A tripod and manual override of the flash might help…. But I don’t know your camera.
