Observation 172851: Lentinus tigrinus (Bull.) Fr.

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Found growing from the roots of a stump and later I found a great many fruiting from the stump itself. The stump was right next to the river and during heavy rains it often ended up slightly submerged. All attempts to get a spore print failed due to strong propensity maggot infestation.

i agree.
the last picture added definitely shows the veil breaking.
i wasn’t sure what was going on in the second photo.
