the dominant North American muscarioid species. Given our situation with names (previously described multiple times on MO), at present, the name Amanita muscaria var. guessowii is appropriate.

Dr. Geml’s lab reported the “proposed fungal barcode” gene for this material.

We have received this material and accessioned it to Rod’s herbarium. Rod believes it is a muscarioid species.

Cap diameter about 8 cm, striation roughly 1 mm wide
