Observation 174167: Cortinarius semisanguineus (Fr.) Gill.

Notes: 3 fruiting bodies growing scattered among Fagus grandifolia duff under Fagus grandifolia. Quercus sect, Lobatae and Acer saccharum nearby. Quercus alba, Pinus echinata, Pinus rigida, Sassafras albidum, Oxydendron arboreum and Zanthoxylum americanum further away. Caps caramel brown; smooth; dry; 2.2 cm and 1.3 cm wide in the 2 mature specimens respectively. Lamellae blood-red; dull brown in exsiccata; ~1.0 cm wide in widest individual lamella. Mature fruiting bodies ~3.5 cm and ~4.3 cm tall respectively.
