Observation 174212: Leccinum Gray

When: 2014-08-15

Collection location: Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada [Click for map]

Who: R.W. (Al.)

No specimen available

It sort of looks like a Leccinum stipe in these photos, but it didn’t feel like one at all. a very dense firm solitary specimen growing in grass in a woody park by the lake. the pore surface is a matching hue of the stipe and its a strange purple brown with reddish hues in some light. Sometimes my flash makes it look like the pores and the stipe are dissimilar hues, but they are very similar
