This material has been received and accessioned to Rod’s herbarium. We have also scheduled it for DNA sequencing.

listed under “xanthomitra” have to be considered among the “rhacopus group” because of DNA similarities. We’re going through a good exercise with regard to that group. Hopefully, we’ll come out the other side with a better understanding of the things that used to get lumped under “ceciliae in the sense of U.S. authors.”

“sp-V03” and xanthomitra…

each look like good possibilities.

One thing I had not previously mentioned. There were some oak trees in this area.

There are two directions…

If we consider the cap as tan, then “sp-V03” might be a match.

If we consider the cap to be more olivaceous (less likely to my eyes) then, something similar to (but not identical with) “xanthomitra” is a possibility.

At any rate, given the current status of my understanding on these matters, I can hope that we can derive a useful region/gene.

Very best,

Rod

This one seems to me…

to blur the distinction between rhacopus and sinicoflava.

Material preserved, but several days of open air-drying may have rendered it unfit for molecular analysis.

This looks like another one of the rhacopus group.

I will not try to predict which one this would be.
