Regarding the mushroom in this obs, the strongly umbonate cap is something I associate with sinicoflava.
is suggestive of sinicoflava—a possible, tentative ID.
[Different subject] Take a look at sp-57 and sp-N50.
Looking that the DNA of sp-57 this morning led to realization that both are probably in sect. Amanita. Since something like this is showing up on MO from Tennessee and Florida, it would be very interesting to look at all the material.
