Notes: Near base of Pinus contorta. Peridium to 5mm thick at basal attachment, with lots of ropey rhizomorphs.


In situ. Showing gray-brown gleba.
With thick, ropey rhizomorphs which combine to form the base underground.
Very thick 4-6 mm peridium, especially at base. No red staining visible.
Gleba chocolate brown to light brown where exposed by peridium cracking.
Rhizomorphs combine under ground to establish basal pad. Thick peridium.
