Nice historical synopsis of the dubious application of the name dealbata to pretty much any of these small white Clitocybe mushrooms makes it clear that (an) other(s) species name(s) is/are needed. (See link in previous comment.)

Still seems like an interesting question… is the American “sudorifica” the same as rivulosa? Confusion regarding past application of “dealbata” renders archival herbarium material suspect. So, even if sequences from such material are on record, they may be unreliable representatives of C. rivulosa. The multitude of small whitish Clitocybe “species” names seems to add to the confusion.

Hopefully, these little guys will return to my lawn next summer/fall. I’ll make it a point to preserve the ones I find.

They’re synonymized

as far as I can tell. The best analysis of the situation that I can find is on the Clitocybe dealbata name page.

that I’ve called “Clitocybe dealbata” for many years… Is it now C. rivulosa or C. sudorifica?

Judging from authorship found on IF, looks to me like the origins are: “sudorifica” in North America, “rivulosa” in Europe. Is there a reason why they may now be synonymized?

C du Q mentions that the European species has been associated with poisonings. Here in NE Pennsylvania I know of two people who have been sickened by eating this type mushroom.
