Notes: Spores measure 26 – 52 × 24 – 28 micrometers (not counting the ornamentation).
The spore sacs that have just two spores have much larger spores than the sacs that have 3 or 4 spores. The spores are evenly distributed throughout the inside of the truffle.

Most of the mushrooms pictured in the photo are what I am calling Tuber oregonense, however there are some others in the background. I just added two more photos showing the specimens cut open.

First, those micro photos of spores are REALLY nice!
Second, the photo purporting to show Tuber oregonense probably shows several other species as well. I’d guess Hymenogaster and Leucangium are included. No date given for the collection that I could find, so anything is possible.
PLEASE – when photographing a hypogeous fungi, allow at least one photo of the gleba (interior) to verify fruiting characteristics of that species. The plethora of hypogeous fungi are hard enough to sort through as it is.
If the photo was actually taken in January or later, the specimen could also be T. gibbosum (although I don’t see any pinched spores in the microphotographs).
