Observation 175643: Cyanoboletus pulverulentus (Opat.) Gelardi, Vizzini & Simonini
When: 2014-08-30
No herbarium specimen

Notes: 6 fruit bodies all a little past prime on both sides of the trail under mixed hardwoods, predominately oak, but including ash, sassafras, beech, maple, black locust, viburnum, etc. No conifer in sight.

All had shiny dry dark brown caps and very large yellowish to greenish yellow pores with a slightly radial arrangement. So my 1st impression is to check Gyrodon which does not look like a good match. All fb were round and nicely shaped. We saw many Gyrodon meruliodes; they were much smaller, less symetrical, had wetter pores. Not Suillus.

Pores and context instantly staining blue.
