…what’s lurking in those unexplored boreal forests north of Ottawa. :) I agree with JM, this is not B. separans. The pore mouths of this bolete stain red!

forest dominated with conifers and some birch, the yellowish pore surface and the massive build (this thing was very lage and very low) seem to refute xanthoconium separans
