Yes, I think you’re on the right track.

We thought we had at least three, different, smallish taxa a few years back; however, based on the efforts of Dr. Karen Hughes’ lab, we see that all three have essentially the same nrITS and nrLSU sequences: If there is no contrary evidence coming down the line, then solaniolens (also once called sp-N20), sp-O02, and material collected in Costa Rica all could be the same entity—despite slight variation in cap coloring and stature.

Very best,

Thanks, Rod

I had that impression when collecting it. Do you think A. solaniolens group is promising? I have the specimen if you want it.

I think that some pigment may have been washed out of the cap.

The brown tint faintly extends beyound the region of the umbo in the first picture if you crank up the magnification.

Very best,

Thanks, Dave

for the lead. No odor on obs 171338 either. It seems like a possibility.

The stature…

reminds me of A. solaniolens.

The reported lack of odor does not fit solaniolens. Also, the cap appears to lack the radial streakiness expected with solaniolens. Color also a bit pale and lacking olive tone.
