Observation 177183: Macrolepiota Singer
When: 2014-09-07
Collection location: Japan [Click for map]
Who: shinto
No herbarium specimen

Notes: stipe: 52cm long; pileus 18 cm diam. pinkish cottage cheesy debris on litter under pileus assumed to be spores. taking a spore print now ). Absolutely no odor. On Oak and Pittosporum debris/leaves. Hard to extricate from litter. Quite rootlike base. Have not seen any mushroom before waving in the breeze as this one was. Stipe is a bit woody. Is there a cup base on this? …. might be an amanita? Growth rate could be phenomenal.

The other photos show cap up close in better light with completely smooth almost shiny surface, bored into by insects. Should have stuck to fungi on the id.

wouldn’t upload with nine photos, so this is abbreviated, pink debris is veil remnants, forgot to correct on this abbreviated upload. If anyone wants more photos of this let me know. Seen waving in the breeze. Mr. Incognito on one pic.
