From same exact spot as where I have collected squarrosa during past years.

Looking at maybe 100 spores…

a very few appeared to exceed 6 mu in length. Most had length around 5 mu. Spores observed in KOH + Congo red near mounted gill edge.

Looks like most of these scaly Pholiotas I find here are likely P. squarrosoides. Only one collection I have made includes a record of spores with lengths approaching 8 mu.
