Observation 178089: Lactarius speciosus Burl.

When: 2014-09-12

Collection location: Nescopeck State Park, Pennsylvania, USA [Click for map]

Who: Dave W (Dave W)

No specimen available

Plenty of birch mixed in with conifers.

Spore print still thin at this point, but it looks to be white. So I think L. dispersus is unlikely.

Taste mild.

Update 9/17. Spore print was slow to develop, but eventually a thick print was observed as white.
