Observation 178374: Pisolithus Alb. & Schwein.
When: 2014-09-10

Notes: For the fb starting in pics 4-7:

Blurry brown spots around the base of the fb.
Pink tint focused in a ring in the middle of the base.
Agitating the white (= thick) part of the peridium, without breaking the skin, doesn’t result in staining.
Pink tint ring extends through the peridium into the mass inside.
Seems like the outer parts of the interior, just within <= 1mm of the peridium, get their own highly laterally compressed (like paper sheets) version of the regular peridiole structure inside.

Stage 1 (obs 180450) is distinguished into 2 stages:
Stage 1a. They’re mottled yellow & (black, brown) in ripped sections.
Stage 1b. They’re mottled white & (black, brown) in ripped sections.

In stages 2-5, the peridiole exteriors are powdery, so they provide some yellow to the jelly color. (not different from obs 180450)

Stage 4 is distinguished into 2 stages:
Stage 4a. Interiors unevenly growing purplish brown tints.
Stage 4b. Interiors solidly dark purplish black.
